Smith Hamilton was founded in 2014 as a boutique firm focused on corporate and commercial law, with expertise in fund management and advising senior executives, shareholders and entrepreneurs.
In 2023, the firm became part of MEUM Group, a multidisciplinary platform supporting ultra-high-net-worth individuals, their families and their businesses. During this period, our practice broadened significantly to include family, private client, education, charities and regulatory work, employment, and dispute resolution.
The law firm is now building on that growth to operate independently once again under the Smith Hamilton name. This transition reflects a natural progression in our growth and allows us to focus fully on delivering an integrated legal service under a single specialist brand, while retaining the expanded expertise developed over recent years.

Every lawyer at the firm operates as a consultant, building and managing their own practice under the Smith Hamilton brand. We provide the regulatory structure, infrastructure and environment. You retain control.
Our structure is simple and transparent. You receive a fixed percentage of all fees billed and collected. There are no hidden deductions, no equity buy-in and no internal hierarchies. Your earnings reflect the practice you build.
We retain the remainder to cover professional indemnity insurance, SRA compliance, billing and finance, secure IT systems, marketing platform and office facilities in Mayfair.
We are selective in our recruitment process so you can rely on your colleagues.
It is a commercially rewarding model for senior lawyers who already generate work and want to be properly rewarded for it.
You may work from our Mayfair office, remotely, or in a hybrid arrangement that suits your clients and your life.
